If you were not at the meeting last night or even if you were, here is a link to what we will be photographing at Parc Omega on our outing in Montebello, Quebec. from October 26th to the 28th.
I have booked enough rooms for about 10 members and can book more, however, I need to have everyone who is interested, booked by October 2nd so that I can complete organizing. That way I can make sure we have enough rooms booked. If you are interested, the rooms are nice and clean and the breakfast is included. I have booked 3 rooms - a studio with 2 queen beds and kitchen and 2 with one queen bed - in one motel and 2 rooms with 2 queen beds each in another hotel down the road as the first place ran out of rooms. I can book more in the second place, as long as it doesn't get too late. The rates for one night will be approximately between $60 to $80 /person depending on how many people there will be registered as I am averaging it so we all pay the same amount. I would like to collect this amount plus the Omega park entrance fee and the bus, once everyone is registered, (when I will be able to tell you to correct amount) by the mid-month meeting so that I can take care of this myself, and you will only have to pay for the food when we are there, and gas when we get back.
Here is a reminder of what we will be doing at our outing:
I have been planning an outing to Parc Omega in Quebec, from October 26th to the 28th. We will carpool.
Park Omega is an amazing park where there are lots of wildlife like elk, deer, boars, bison, coyotes, foxes, bears, wolves, moose and more.
I have revised this outing to make it for up to 15 members. So register quickly if you are interested, by October 2nd latest. If it is full, and you would like to go, please email me and let me know and I will put you on a waiting list, in case someone can’t make it, or if there are more who would like to go, we could go with 2 vehicles if there is someone who would also like to drive. I have booked some rooms already through Booking.com as there were only a few rooms left at the place. If we need more I may be able to find some more rooms a couple of doors down. At another hotel. However, if you would like to share, the accommodations will be a lot more reasonable. Please register quickly so that I can arrange more rooms and see if we need to adjust something.
Friday, October 26, we will leave at 7 am and pick up or meet depending on where everyone lives and how many are going. I will send an email a few days before we leave to make the arrangements. We will drive towards Montebello, Quebec, stopping when needed. We will stop for lunch just at Kaladar. There are several places near there where we can stop.
After lunch, we will drive around 3 more hours to our accommodations. We should reach there around 4:30 or 5 pm.
Once we have settled in our rooms, we will walk down the street to a restaurant called “Zouk”
After dinner, we will go walk back and relax for a while and get ready for sleep.
Saturday, October 27th, after breakfast, (which we will ask for at 7:30 am) but as Parc Omega will not be open until 10 am, at this time of the year, we will take advantage of the time and walk down the road to see the Manoir Papineau National Historical site, just 15 minute walk from the hotel.
We will leave at 8 am and return at 9:30 am. We probably won’t be able to get inside however, there is a lot of photo ops around the manor.
At 9:30 am, we will walk back and drive to Parc Omega.
we will park by the administration building/store and get to our bus. We will be there, around until we can go to see the wolves and bears being fed which we can photograph outside on the boardwalk above where they are.
Once we are done, at approximately 3:30 or 4pm, we will drive to Plaisance Falls, which is about 15 minutes drive. We may have to pay $6 to enter if anyone is there, but I believe that the office will be closed at this time of year.
We will then return to our rooms to freshen up and go out for dinner. We can again go to the Zouk or to Le Bistro, both places will need to have reservations as they are both very busy places, so we will have to do that the night before.
Sunday, October 28th, we will check out of our room after breakfast, around 8 am and drive to Plaisance National Park
also please see the information Guide for the park. You may print it for your information
We will explore and maybe do a couple of short trails until about noon,
and return to our vehicle and drive towards Ottawa.
Once we cross over to Ottawa, we will stop at Byward Market. There are many restaurants there. One of them being a Mexican which has great reviews, very inexpensive and has gluten-free meals however if you are not into Mexican, there are many restaurants there and also some smaller take-out food places.
After lunch, we will drive back home, and, depending on the time, we may stop if we see a photo op.
I hope that you will join this outing which has many facets of photography from wildlife to nature, to architecture to trails and good food !!
Register fast! Rooms are booked!
I have been asked what the cost of this trip will be.
Accommodations: I have booked 2 rooms with one bed, which come to about $90 including tax per night - we have the option of putting a cot or another bed in one of these rooms to make it shareable which would make it $140 for 2 nights ( $70/per night) approx.
I have also booked 1 room with 2 beds, which comes to about $135 including taxes per night - shared this would be $135 for both nights ($68 per night) approximately. this Hotel is very popular and it is very nice, so this is a great value.
Unfortunately, this was all that was left, which is why I booked them. If there are more people interested to make it 10 people, we can get two more rooms I think in a hotel couple of doors down. but I need to know all this before July 31st! preferably earlier. However, if we only have the van full this will be 6 people, which should work out if people are sharing and we have the right genders.. we will work it out somehow.
admission fees: for Parc Omega adults $27 seniors $25
for Plaisance Falls $6 but we may not need to pay this as the office may not be open.
for Plaisance National Park, $8. but we may not need to pay this either, and if we do, it is only $8
Food- up to you. we will have breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings (free) so 3 lunches and 3 dinners (including Friday)
The gas tank will be filled up before we leave and we will fill the tank up when we get back and add all gas receipts and divide it equally.
My estimation would approximately be,170- 185 per person for accommodations, entry to park and the bus. + what you will pay for food and gas. This is a great deal.
Anyway looking forward to a great trip...Don't miss it!
